Happy Birthday David Bowie! He would have been 77 today! RIP #GoldenYears
Golden Years dance scene from A Knights Tale is the best
I love watching great movies, especially when random classic rock songs show up to flesh out the arc of the story.
I have choreographed several broadway musicals over the years and it is so fun to add unexpected and delightful movement to the shows.
One of my favorite scenes to choreograph was telephone hour from Bye Bye Birdie.
I was in tenth grade at Walled Lake Central HS and worked with a cast of mostly non dancers to put this scene together. It was such a joy to see my vision on stage that I snuck out into the house to watch that scene every night of the show.
I played Doris and was not in the scene and so I stood in the back of the auditorium while the cast performed that fun song.
I also choreographed the waltz in A Christmas Carol in 2018 and taught a cast of children and adults how to ballroom dance on stage during the Fezziwig party scene.
Other favorite shows I choreographed include South Pacific and Dancin’, a musical review show that included a production number of Thelma Houstons I’ve Got The Music in Me. I also taught fifty “little girls” a twenty minute version of songs from Annie to be performed at our Stake Dance Festival in 1985!
If for whatever reason my church is demolished by end time events, I may just join my friend Lysols church dedicated to the music of David Bowie.

To witness the cast of A Knights Tale going from a classic period dance/melody to rockin’ out to Bowie is some next level entertainment that still gives me a buzz when I watch it.
In this video I share a few clips from interviews and songs over the years with David Bowie, who would be 77 on this day if he had not died of cancer in 2016.
