Today I participated in the FAIR in the Arts Town Hall Zoom Call.
We listened as two artists in the UK shared their stories.
FAIR in the Arts for a virtual town hall celebrating the launch of Freedom in the Arts (FitA), a new emergency project founded by FAIR Arts Fellow Rosie Kay and Denise Fahmy to tackle the culture of fear and intimidation facing artists.
Moderated by FAIR in the Arts Director Brent Morden, we will speak with Rosie and Denise about their vision for FitA and the growing global movement of artists protecting artistic freedom.
Come to connect with like-minded artists and participate in a community discussion around the future of the arts & culture.
Thank You from FAIR in the Arts
Whether you have been a member of FAIR in the Arts since our April 2022 launch or joined yesterday; whether you have come said hello at all of our community events or briefly skim our newsletters; whether you work at the highest level of your professional industry or find simple joy in the arts as a hobby; whether in FAIR you have found support to stand up to intolerance in the arts or are biding your time to make your voice heard – we are grateful that you are a part of our community.
Since day one, FAIR in the Arts has remained steadfast in our mission to advance a culture of creative freedom, excellence, fairness, and humanity in the arts. We have elevated the voices of artists who have been alienated by groupthink, self-censorship, and bias in their fields such as Kevin Ray and Meg Smaker.
We have produced a variety of virtual and live programming to foster new connections among like-minded artists. We have sponsored public campaigns calling for the reversal of discriminatory policies in the literary world and federally-funded arts organizations. We have piloted the FAIR Artist Grant (with winners being announced soon!) to counter the arts funding ecosystem that serves divisive DEI policies. And we are only getting started.
In order to change culture, we must create culture. Your support of FAIR in the Arts enables us to not only expand on the work we have built since 2022, but also to pursue new initiatives such as media content, local artist networks, guidebooks and resources for FAIR-aligned artists, and more.
This Giving Tuesday, please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to FAIR in the Arts. We are grateful for your generosity as we build a brighter future for the arts & culture together.
With gratitude,
Brent A. Morden

A few thoughts from Jenny Hatch
I was removed from the Board of Directors of the Simon Fest Theatre Company last year for “unprofessionalism.”
I had been serving as the Board Chair and organized our 20th Anniversary Gala and ran the board meetings on zoom for over a year. I also blogged our 20th Season.
Clarence Gilyard encouraged me when I was feeling wobbly in board leadership. He passed away last year. I will always feel grateful to Clarence for his confidence in me.
I harbor no ill will to the Artistic Side of the company. And consider them friends.
My chat with BK, a trans friend, on Spotify, we discussed my post on gender parity in the theatre.
I also served as a regional editor for the now defunct Shakespeare Standard.
The woke are attempting to cancel the great art of western civilization. Especially the best art created by dead white males.
We need to STOP THEM!
A few of my old blog posts as the regional editor for the Shakespeare Standard are HERE, HERE, HERE.
Here is my documentary, a series of interviews with the founder of the Utah Shakespeare Festival, Fred Adams.
